July 2024 – Sutton Bridge Players has triumphed in a drama festival held at a seaside theatre scooping three awards.

The group returned to perform in the Hunstanton One Act Drama Festival, and brought home trophies for best supporting male actor, audience choice award and the adjudicators award.

Rambles on Radio by Robert Scott, is a one act comedy. Featuring Chris Rambles (played by Fiona Milnes) who is delighted to be performing her play on the radio with her daughter Georgina (played by June Drew) in a starring role, but others are less content with the casting. Worse still, there’s more drama behind the microphone than is going out over the air.

The annual festival attracts drama groups from across the region, showcasing a diverse array of talent and creativity.

Rambles on Radio was the group’s third year of entering the festival.

Previous years have seen the group receive nominations including Best Female Actor, Best Supporting Male Actor and Best Technical Presentation in their performances “The St. Valentine’s Introductory Agency” and “A Little Less Conversation”.

In a debut performance at the festival, Ashley Hornigold played the role of Harry, delivering a performance that had the audience in stitches and his efforts were rewarded with the best supporting actor award.

A big well done to everyone involved both on and off-stage of this production. It’s moments like this that make us realise how far the group has progressed and grown over the last few years.
